MMR Immune Status and Varicella Zoster (Titers)

$150.99

What is this test?

This blood test measures the levels of antibodies against measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and varicella-zoster (chickenpox) viruses in your blood. Antibodies are proteins produced by your immune system to fight off infections. If you have antibodies against a specific virus, it means you have immunity to that virus.

Who is this test for?

This test is often recommended for:

  • Healthcare workers: To ensure they are immune to these viruses, which can be harmful to patients.
  • Individuals planning to travel to countries where these diseases are prevalent: Having immunity can help protect you from infection.
  • People who are unsure if they have been vaccinated or had these illnesses in the past: The test can confirm your immune status.
  • Women who are planning pregnancy: Immunity to these viruses is important for the health of both the mother and baby.

Outcome of the test:

The results of the test will show whether you have antibodies against MMR and varicella-zoster viruses. If you have antibodies, you are considered immune. If you do not have antibodies, it may indicate that you need to be vaccinated.

Preparation before taking the test:

There is no special preparation required for this test. However, it is important to inform your healthcare provider about any medications or supplements you are taking, as they may interfere with the test results.

Note: If you have a history of allergies to vaccines, please inform your healthcare provider before the test.
